DIY Organic Baby Food {Video}

March 23, 2016

When Peyton started eating solid foods as a baby I was already back at work.  With Harper I have the luxury of being able to stay home (hardest job ever).  Since I’m at home I decided I would try my hand at making Harper’s baby food.  If you follow me on Snapchat (babyshopa) you’ll see that I’ve been doing a lot of cooking.  With my new found cooking confidence and super blinder, I think I got this baby food making down.  Check out my video on how I make organic baby food.

Easy right?  I tried some and it was pretty delicious.  Organic produce just tastes better.  Harper is still getting the hang of this eating thing.  Even though she grabs everything in your hand, she’s all funny acting when it comes to a spoon.  All you need is organic carrots, water and containers.  I ended up adding about a cup and a half of water to the blender.  If your newborn is just starting solids you want it to be pretty soupy.  I picked up the little 2 oz. container from Dollar Tree.

Just think of how much money you save by making your own baby food.  The pack of carrots were $2.  That’s almost a weeks worth of baby food for $2.  One container of pre-made baby food costs that much.  I may not stick with this forever, but when I can, I’ll be making her food.  Next on the menu is organic squash.

Do you make baby food?  If you have any tips please share!

    I made baby food for my first two. There are ice cube trays with lids that you can get for easy freezing and storage. That made it super easy for me.

    Love that you are doing this for Harper. I’m waiting for the video of her actually trying the food so I can see her facial express!! You can probably blend her up some fruits too, like a little smoothie. She will probably enjoy that.

    Thank you for this video, very interesting. I’d like to know your opinion about juicing for kids. I have son, he is 4 years. My husband wants to buy a juicer. I’ve read a lot of juicer reviews but I don’t know anything about juicing for kids
