  • My mom’s favorite church song is Grace & Mercy. When @pintsizefaith they sent me these shirts, they didn’t know. I believe this was a message from my mom that his Grace & Mercy will bring me through. Thank you @pintsizefaith for all the inspiring messages.
  • The time is always right to do what is right - MLK. Words I try to live by! If you visit Memphis, go by the Lorraine Motel. So many emotions just knowing this is where he took his last steps.
  • I thank God for my family. Out here breaking generational curses and sharing black love. There was a time when I thought being a mom was negative because I watched so many in my family, including my mom, struggle raising kids on their own. Motherhood is a struggle but the best and loving kind of struggle.

  • Somebody’s been drinking their water and minding their business 😆. My first blog post of 2020 is up! This is the year I say YES to myself more! I’m excited about it. I also forgot I got Fendi bag on Black Friday at a consignment store because I tucked it away before Mr started asking questions! Pretty much brand new for a small fraction of the price 🙌🏾. My dress/jacket is also on sale at @recessionistasclose! Details are on the blog. Link in profile. 📷 @kaynjames
  • Y’all remember this? I saw that meme about what you call @diddy and you can tell someone’s age. Well I call him Puff. Happy Friday! Fun fact: Peyton got some moves. She can really dance. I don’t own the rights to this music. #puffdaddy
  • “I used to live downtown, 129th St” 🎶 My old heads know about this. That’s exactly what i look like. Bonus points of you can tell me who or what song it’s from. This has been my uniform (outside of my @supermomculture hoodie) over the holiday break +/- the hat. Trying to get my style mojo back for 2020! Shedding a few lbs will definitely get me inspired. Links to what I’m wearing in profile. #momstyle
  • *This pic is from Feb 19’* Get knocked down 9 times, get up 10 - Card B. I’m looking more like my before pic but I know it’s possible because I’ve done it before. Last year was devastating for me and I ate and drank all my emotions. I’m back at it again. Click the link in my bio to see what helped me achieve these results.
  • Even though my voice is gone (I’m sure Mr & the girls are happy about that 😒), I’m excited for my first speaking engagement of the year for @bcollectivemag #belevated conference this month! I’ll be giving all the tea that has helped me to secure the brands. I’m so honored to be included in the line up!
  • I was holding on by a thread most of 2019. It may continue into 2020 but I’m holding on. I thank God for keeping me.
@supermomculture beanie is unavailable but new 🔥 drop coming in 2020!
  • Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas 🎄. Mr is missing but he’s still around 😂. To my defense, we took these before Thanksgiving and I planned to have another shoot with him but I was tired. Anywho... what y’all get?

Prepping Tips for Go RVing

July 10, 2017

I just returned home from a family trip that I never imagined I would be taking. If you follow me on Instagram or SnapChat you saw that we went camping. I’m so blessed that my family got to have this experience. Before I get into details of our RV trip, I wanted to share with you how I prepared. I’m from Chicago originally, a big city and I don’t know the first thing about camping.  With the help of Pinterest and some major planning, I pulled off this amazing summer trip with Go RVing.

1. After the initial shock of “What did I get myself into’’ I went to GoRVing.com to learn more. I looked at what was included in the RV, so I would know what I needed to pack.

2. Research campgrounds. Since this is the first time doing any sort of camping for both me and my husband, we knew we wanted to stay in Georgia. There are a ton of RV campgrounds. We just looked for one that had the best amenities.

3. Head to Pinterest. I headed to Pinterest and searched RVing. Of course, it was information overload. I stumbled upon a few helpful packing lists that I printed out.

4. Break down lists. I broke up my lists into sections. Kitchen, First Aid, bed, bath, and clothing. This helped me to focus on each one to make sure I had everything.

5. Meal plan and prep. Again, I went to Pinterest for meal ideas. I tried to find the easiest meals that I could make in our small kitchen.

6. Head to the dollar store. I’m the kind of person that likes to have everything that I can think of before I leave. I may be one of the few people that can spend $100 in the dollar store. You’d be surprised how many things you can find for any trip.

7. Call the campground. I called the campground to ask every question I could think of. They happily answered all of them.

8. Pack light. I kept everyone to one backpack for the trip. I didn’t even bring makeup. Ok, I brought concealer and a brow pencil.

9. Hair. One thing I knew I wasn’t going to do was be responsible for combing 3 heads of hair while on our RVing trip. The girls wore braids and twist. I wore hats with a bun in the back. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

10. Plan activities. I always try to make a “flexible” schedule before any trip.  Check out your parks’ attractions ahead of time. Bring some board games and cards with you as well.

We may have packed light on the clothing, but I may have gone overboard on the kitchen. Our Type C motorhome had a full kitchen, and I wanted to make sure I made the most of it.  In addition to the kitchen, I made sure I had a first aid kit, bug repellent, and a toolbox.

Now that I feel like an RV pro, I can’t wait for the next trip! I’ll be sharing more from our RVing trip soon! Until then, you can learn more about Go RVing HERE.

Have you ever been RVing or camping? How do you prepare?

This post was sponsored by Go RVing. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow! Thanks for sharing this info. I am in the same bucket as you were….never went camping and wouldn’t have a clue on how to prepare. I know my kids will enjoy doing this one day. Now I have a true process to follow!!
