• It’s been a week y’all! I’m emotionally drained that living while black is a crime. I have a black husband that takes care of us and provides this beautiful home we live in. I also have to worry if he gets pulled over or “Karen” decides to call the police on him what the outcome would be. Or if it happens to me. Anyway, this weekend I decided I’m going to self care which means cleaning up. Take it easy on yourself. Take a break from social if you have to. I had to leave IG alone and go to Pinterest. It’s ok!
  • During these trying times, people have been going above and beyond and we want to thank them. #AD @Hallmark has beautiful cards to help us show our appreciation in a meaningful way. I think we can all agree that our appreciation for teachers is at an all-time high! I'll be sending this beautiful card to Peyton's 4th-grade teacher. As hard as homeschooling the last few months were, she was there even after hours to assist parents. Who would you like to send a special thanks to? You can purchase @hallmark cards online or grab a few when you're picking up essentials. #cardsdomore Link in profile
  • The before doesn’t usually look like this. Mister (bless his heart) has been cleaning the kitchen more and this is how he puts away the pans. I didn’t say nothing because I’m not trying to discourage him 😩. I just cleaned it up. He said it looks much better 😒. Looks like as long as he’s cleaning the kitchen I’ll just tidy up ever couple of days. We were supposed to get a custom system installed in this large corn cabinet but I never got around to it. This will do for now. PS, music stopped but you get the point 😆#quarantinecleaning #kitchenorganization
  • I miss outside 😩! If you know me in person you know I’m a extra-extrovert. Being out with the people shaking hands & kissing babies is what I do! I kinda miss finding something cute to wear like this @suakokobetty kimono and shorts look. I think I’m turning into an social media introvert. Y’all know how i feel about introverts 😒😂. I don’t post as much as I used because I like the human energy. I sure we will get passed this! How are y’all coping socially? I’ll add a swipe up to my look in my stories.
  • Had to bring Mr. out of retirement to show y’all the new black on black Superdad! Father’s Day is coming and they need this drip. Also BOGO sale going on for Memorial Day wknd. Link in profile. supermomculture.com
  • Glad that’s over 😩. School is out for Quarantine Summer! Not sure what we’re going to do but I’m just happy to not have to log in teams and scan homework! So proud of how Peyton handled these few months. She picked up a part time job with @supermomculture and got all her work done. In pray they will return in the fall 🙏🏿. 5th grade here we come!
  • I don’t know what today is but it’s always a good day for something with bacon in it! #AD Since every day feels like Blursday, I’m sharing details on my delicious Bacon Bagel sandwich on the blog! @nationalporkboard wants to help you beat the Blursday blues by sending you some pre-cooked bacon! Up to a 1000 people across the US will be selected! Follow @nationalporkboard for details. Head to the blog, link in profile for my #baconforblursday recipe. • Motherhood is something I wasn’t sure I wanted. Look at me now! I was missing my mom today but overall I had a good day. Thank you for all@the love! @supermomculture showed out and I know that was my mom shining down. Hope you all had a great Mother’s Day!
  • For Mother’s Day Sunday my mom would have a new sharp suit laid out and she would have me run around Atlanta looking for a hat to match. I miss my mom so much. I find comfort in knowing that the very best parts of me are because of her. I feel her with me every day. 🌹
  • You guys have held me down this past year! Words of encouragement and supporting @supermomculture. I want to say thank you! I know I’ve been quiet but I’ve been working getting orders out. Tonight we are going to celebrate US at 8pm on @supermomculture Live! Grab your drink of choice and join me! #ipartiedatsupermothersday #clubsupermomculture

How to Always Be Ready to Go + Look Fab!

January 17, 2013
Have you ever had an event or party to go to and you just couldn’t pull it together?  You end up not going because you can’t find anything to wear or your hair is a mess!  As a mommy on the go, I  know all about it!  I wanted to share my tips on how I am how manage to pull it together to head out to special events.

1.  You should always have something to wear!  Invest in a figure flattering LBD (little black dress)!  No thinking is involved with a dress!  I love LBD’s that are not so form fitting.  If I am bloated or gained a few pounds they always look nice!  You can change them up your LBD with accessories jackets, scarves and shoes!

2.  Keep your hair did!  I don’t know if y’all have noticed but I don’t like doing my hair!  Even though I love my natural hair, it takes time for me to manage.  When my schedule is packed and I have to deal with Peyton’s hair, my hair is left behind.  My go to style is a weave or extensions.  All I have to do is brush and go!  If I have a few minutes to spare I will throw in a few loose curls. When I am not wearing a weave I am more than likely rocking a high bun!  This no fuss hair do takes no time!   Throw on some fabulous earrings and I am good to go!  I am not saying get a weave or wear a bun but plan you hair style ahead of time or prep the night before.

3.  Stick with your makeup routine.  If you just got some new makeup items, try them out ahead of time.  Nothing worse than putting on something and it wasn’t what you thought or trying to put on lashes and getting glue all over your face!  Now you have to start over!  Stick with what you know!

4.  Lay out your clothes for the week.  Every weekend I take about 30 minutes and head into my closet to put together outfits.  Try on the outfits to make sure you like the fit and look.  Make sure everything is washed up before the week starts.  This ensures that your “good” jeans are not dirty when you want to wear them.

5.  Buy some nails!  Kiss Nail Dress and Impress Nails are my solution for not having time to get my nails done.  On only takes a few minutes to put these bad boys on!  No drying time required.

This may seem like this is a lot of work but trust me, it take less time to plan ahead than standing and staring at the clothes in your closet for an hour every time you have some where to be.  When you are not in a rush it is actually easier to put together an outfit.  I don’t want to hear any excuses anymore!  What do you do to make sure you are ready to go?  Do you pick out your clothes right before you go out?

I need to take your suggestion and throw some quick nails on before events..I HATE wearing them in my day to day life..but it would really spice up my look for big events etc.

Thanks for sharing your tips–I was just gifted a nice LBD for Christmas. I look forward to wearing it soon. Also, I’m with you on the convenience of a weave–love my kinkycurls but it’s time to put them to rest while I rock the ease of weave. .LOL
