I love me some protective hairstyles. I switch my hairstyles up from weaves to braids to crochet hair. Protective styles are low-maintenance, protect your natural hair and keep you looking good on the go. Protective styles may be low-maintenance, but you still have to take care of your hair and scalp underneath. I wanted to share with you how I maintain a healthy scalp with a few simple tips and the help of Dove DermaCare Scalp Dryness & Itch Relief Shampoo and Conditioner.

Before we get into it, I want to introduce you to the latest innovation from Dove Hair, the Dove DermaCare Scalp Series. Dove DermaCare Scalp Series features three variants that combine the perfect blend of powerful, skin-focused technology with the nourishment of Dove, resulting in no visible flakes with regular use.

  1. Make sure your hair isn’t too tight. If your stylist braids too tight, ask them to do it looser. Pulling the hair can cause unnecessary damage to your scalp.
  2. Wash your extensions or braids regularly. It can be a hassle to wash extensions but this is the best way to maintain a healthy scalp. Using Dove DermaCare Scalp Dryness & Itch Relief Shampoo and Conditioner, I pay special attention to my leave-out are and where I experience itchiness and dryness. Dove DermaCare Scalp series nourishes dry, irritated and itchy scalp.

  1. Don’t scratch your scalp. As a long time extension wearer, I’ve learned my lesson of scratching my scalp. Not only does it bring up dandruff, but it also can break skin. Dove DermaCare Scalp Dryness & Itch Relief Shampoo and Conditioner are formulated with coconut and shea butter to hydrate dry scalp and relieve irritation.
  2. Do not wear a protective style more than 6-8 weeks! Your hair needs to be nourished, so taking down braids and extensions are a must after wearing for several weeks.

  1. Nourish your scalp with Dove DermaCare Scalp Dryness & Itch Relief Shampoo and Conditioner in between styles. Using Dove DermaCare Scalp collection, it helps to Nourishes dry itchy scalp, relieve scalp irritation, and hydrates hair. Dove DermaCare Scalp series also will have your hair flake free with regular use. Winter is coming and we know how those flakes like to make an appearance.

After my first use of Dove DermaCare Scalp Dryness & Itch Relief Shampoo and Conditioner, my hair was flake free and was no longer itchy. Without adding my usual styling products, my hair felt smooth and hydrated. Itchy scalp is my biggest complaint with wearing protective styles. Using Dove DermaCare Scalp Dryness & Itch Relief Shampoo and Conditioner helped to solve that problem immediately. No more beating myself in the head patting my weave.

Dove DermaCare Scalp is a great addition to your current beauty routine and gives you beautiful and smooth, flake-free hair*.
