NYX Eye Shadow Base Review

February 3, 2012
I know a lot of make-up artist or folks that just love make-up use some sort of primer.  I have a few times but not never kept at it.  Then I heard about ladies using the MAC paint pots, $17 as a base.  So before I invested $17 I thought I would try to find an alternative.  I found NYX eyeshadow base at the beauty supply store for $7.

I purchased the NYX Eyeshadow base in the color Skin tone. It also comes in White and White Pearl .

Here is what the base looks like after you put it on.  I think I put on too much.  I guess I was thinking I was putting on concealer for my eyelids and went H.A.M!  Also, please excuse my tired, muggy eyes! This is in the morning after not much sleep!

Here are the colors that I used on my eyes: Rock and Republic in Paranoid , Elf pallet in Butternut, and Elf Minerals in Girly.

Here is the final result.  I wish I would have blended the eyeshadow base more close to my nose.  I never said I was a makeup artist!  The base did make the colors pop.

Here I am about 10 hours later.  I didn’t have any flash on this picture but you can still tell I have on eyeshadow.  I think it held up pretty good!  Usually at 5:30 I look like I never have put on any make-up for the day.  So I give this eyeshadow base an A!  I will def continue to use this.  Having this product make me want to experiment with more colors that I thought didn’t show up well on my eyes.  Do you use a base or primer?

*Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post.  I purchased this product with my own money for review.  The opinions expressed are my own.

Yes, this is my favorite shadow base and Urban Decay Primer Potion is my favorite primer! I use them according to the look I want to achieve! NYX base gives a more intense look and makes the colors “pop”! Plus NYX is pretty affordable as well! Glad you like it!

Thanks for doing a review on this. I have been back n forth on deciding to purchase the primer. I think I will give it a try. I have really became a NYX fan. I am usually a MAC girl, but I have really fell in love with NYX lip sticks and glosses.

I don’t use one, but perhaps I should. You always look FRESH. And going HAM is not always a bad thing. ha!

I love the NYX primer…I have skintone and the white. I tried them out for the same reasons, the other primers are expensive with less product, and I read great reviews about it on the makeup blogs!

I am going to try the NYX brand. I have Urban Decay and it works pretty good. I forget to use it daily though…guess I don’t feel like being fine at work.

I use both, my eyelids get oily even with a base so I put a light coat of primer then a base or shade stick. Great job!
