After a year of living with an unfinished kitchen, I’m happy to share this MAJOR update! My cabinets have been painted and the backsplash installed *Does back flip*. Seriously, I can not believe this is my kitchen! I feel like I’m living in a magazine! After a rough week of trying to paint the cabinets myself, followed by getting fired by Mister, we’re finally done. I still have a few minor trim details to complete but I’m happy with the way my custom gray kitchen came out.
Cabinet paint color, Fieldstone by Benjamin Moore | Rug, Big Lots | Backsplash by Gabrini Kitchen
In case you are wondering what the kitchen looked like before, click HERE and HERE. Can you believe that I designed everything myself? *Dust shoulders off* To see my dream kitchen come to light is such a blessing. I owe Mister big time for making my kitchen dreams come true. I went with a white glass mosaic backsplash and we had it installed by Gabrini Kitchen. I highly recommend him for tile work, he was amazing!
I’m so happy Mister fired me from painting the kitchen cabinets. They look amazing! If you are thinking of painting your kitchen cabinets yourself….DON’T! It’s the hardest job ever! And your never going to make it look right. Brush strokes are the devil! There is know way you can keep from it. Because our cabinets were brand new, never painted, we should have left it to the professionals. We ended up spending a little more than planned but taking the cabinet doors to a professional painter is the best way to go. If you paint the cabinet frames yourself and remove the doors and hinges, that will save you some coin. If you really want to paint cabinets, do the ones in your bathroom. Don’t try to DIY it in your kitchen, I’m begging you!
We still have the paint around the cabinets to do and some trim ( 2nd to the last pic). I’m going to do a very light white gray color on the walls. What do you think of the transformation? Have you tried painting cabinets before? Were you successful?
