As you are reading this post I am knee deep in the BlogHer world in New York City! This week has been crazy but I wanted to have a fabulous post to read while I am away so I bring you Eboni, The Fashionista Next Door! I don’t know anyone better then Eboni that can remix items in her closet with out looking like she is wearing the same thing over and over. I asked her to share one of her favorite remix items and tips with you guys! I know your gonna love it! Thanks Eboni!!!

Hi There! It’s Eboni from The Fashionista Next Door, and I am thrilled to be guest posting for Trina while she is away at BlogHer. (I’m also very jealous! Lol). Since I can’t be there mingling with all the fab bloggers, I’d say there is no better place to be than here with you!
Trina asked me to talk to you all about remixing, so I thought I’d show you all four ways to wear a black pleated skirt. One of the major focuses over on my blog is finding affordable pieces what will also endure the test of time – trend-wise, and quality-wise. I bought this skirt at TJ Maxx for only $9.99, and it was a great value. It has really become a staple in my wardrobe, and it’s proven to be versatile across all seasons. It’s great with light weight blouses, knits and tees in spring or summer, and a pair of tights or boots takes it right into fall or winter.
Spring/ Summer
For the next look, I played with lengths and proportions. The high-low hemline aka the mullet hemline is all the rage, but it is also tricky to pull off for all body types. I am very broad on top, and this style of top seems to draw uninvited attention to that lovely feature. The A-line cut of a pleated skirt works well with the boxy cut of the shirt, and the peek of tail behind the skirt adds a bit of visual interest while again distracting from the short length of the skirt.
Fall/Winter
Here, I stole a sweater from my husband’s closet (shhhh!). Again, I love the look of the over-sized sweater with the short skirt. I am also mixing black and brown here, which I know is a taboo color combination for some, but let me tell you…that is one fashion rule that was made to be broken! Black and brown are a fabulous combination!

Have fun. I’m just a tad jealous that I had to cancel my BlogHer12 plans. (insert sad face)
I know you ladies will take tons of fabulous pictures.
