Pantene Pro-V Truly Natural Review + #Giveaway

June 5, 2013

I used to go hard using Pantene products back in college when I had a relaxer.  It worked great on my hair and it was the only thing I could afford!  I was excited to take the new Pantene Pro V Truly Natural collection for a spin! The natural collection consist of clarifying shampoo, deep conditioner, co-wash, styling custard and argon oil.

  • Truly Natural: African American women with natural hair can have a tight curl pattern, making it difficult for the scalp’s natural sebum to moisturize the hair. It can also be prone to tangling and dryness. The Pro-V formula offers deep cleansing without stripping away the natural moisture.
  • Truly RelaxedAfrican American women with chemically relaxed hair can be left with excessively dry hair. This collection features gentle cleansing with protection against dryness and breakage with oil-enriched Pro-V shampoo and conditioner that moisturizes and protects while still leaving your hair clean and shiny.
  • Shampoo and conditioner in both collections is affordably priced at $4.99.
  • Additional treatment and styling products are available in each collection.
  • I just removed my extensions so I used the clarifying shampoo to make sure my hair would get clean. After shampooing, I used a generous amount of the Pantene deep conditioner.  I let the conditioner sit on my hair with a plastic cap for 15 minutes.
  • After taking down my extensions I was not in the mood to twist my whole head using the defining curls styling custard.  I applied the styling custard to my whole head and put my hair in a bun.  I did pull out a small section and did a twist with the styling custard to see how it would turn out.
  • When the twist was dry, I un-twisted the hair using the Pantene shine serum with Argon oil.
Final review:  I’m very impressed with this collection considering it is less than $5.  The shampoo did not leave my hair feeling extremely dry like most clarifying shampoos.  Considering I just took out my extensions, the conditioner did a pretty good job of making it easier to detangle my hair.  In the future, I would use the shampoo and conditioner for routine washes.  I used a small amount of the co-wash on Peyton’s hair last week and loved it.  Can’t wait to try it on my hair.  My fave product that I used is the Defining Curls Styling Custard!  I thought it did a great job of defining my curls and left them looking shiny!  The curls were not hard or crunchy.  For under $5, I suggest picking up the co-wash, styling custard and argon oil the first round.

If your lucky…One reader can enter win one Pantene Pro-V Collection of the winner’s choice (either Truly Relaxed or Truly Natural).  MSRP of the prize is $20 for the Truly Relaxed Collection (4 products) and $25 for the Truly Natural Collection (5 products).  Giveaway open to US addresses only.  Giveaway ends June 14th at 12am!  Winner must respond with in 24hrs of notification.  Good Luck!

I use Pantene Pro V for Fine Hair! I find it’s the only product that adds volume to my very thin hair. Love it.

I’ve always used Pantene for moisture. My curls need that TLC! Super excited to try this particular formula. Looks like it’s probably a win for me!

Ooo I’ve always loved Pantene products. I used it on my girls growing up and now they STILL use it. I have relaxed hair and they are both natural so we ALL benefit!

I tried a few of the products in a CurlBox last year and I like they way they work but the perfumey smell is kinda heavy for me.

I’ve tried the clarifying shampoo and you’re right in that it didn’t strip off oil. I’d definitely like to try the Truly Natural
