I remember when I was little, I was rarely happy with my hair. My mom relaxed my hair when I was about 3 and I had a curl by the age of 5. I pray none of those photos ever resurface. It took some time but it wasn’t until college that I was happy with my hair. I’m doing my best to make sure Peyton and Harper love their hair. With the help of Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition collection, I wanted to share 5 tips to encourage little girls to love their hair.
1. Make a hair routine. Set a weekly wash day. You can use Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition detangling creamy co-wash. Weekly washing and styling helps to instill the importance of taking care of you hair at a young age. My mom worked a lot when I was little so we never had a routine. No one ever took the time to take care of my hair. Starting a routine at a young age will contribute to them having healthy hair when they get older. 2. Change it up. As much as I love the convenience of a protective style for Peyton, it’s important to try something different. This helps her to understand that her curly hair is beautiful and versatile. She tells me all the time that her friends say they wish they could do that with their hair.
3. Accessorize. Both of my girls have bins full of bows, headbands and hats. When I give Peyton a protective style, she likes to add a headband. Hair accessories can be a game changer.
4. Let them choose. In addition to changing up Peyton’s hair styles, I also ask her what she wants to do. She’s happy to have her favorite style and feels confident. Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition collection has several products to achieve their favorite look.
5. Stay positive. Words are powerful. I overheard a women say her child’s hair was nappy. That’s like a curse word to me. When I heard that word as a child, it was not in a positive way. I don’t use that word and definitely don’t want my girls to learn it. After every style I do on Peyton, I make sure to tell her how beautiful she is and her hair is amazing.
I have a lot of negative memories about my hair as a child. I don’t want my girls to grow up with these same feelings. Now that we no better, we can do better by our children. Just For Me has alway been there for us with our hair journey as kids and now the new Natural Hair Nutrition collection is here for our kids.
I achieved Peyton’s curly puff and bang look by washing her hair with Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition detangling creamy co-wash followed by nourishing leave-in conditioner. I then sectioned her hair and flat-twisted it using Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition moisture-rich styling smoothie. We let it dry over night. I took down the twist with my fingers lightly moisturized with Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition creamy butter moisturizer. I separated the curls and pulled them up to a loose ponytail and added the crown.
As you can see, Peyton’s hair loved the Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition collection. Her curls were moisturized and defined, which is usually not the case on her soft hair. I encourage you to pick up the Just For Me Natural Hair Nutrition products the next time you’re in the beauty aisle. Thank me later!
Whether your daughter has tangles, dry hair or both, Just For Me has just what you need to give her happy, healthy-looking hair. Shea butter, soy milk and honey combine to nourish your little’s ones tresses and help make styling easier than ever.
